Who are we?

Global Designers Association(GDA) is committed to establishing an international organization that brings together designers and artists specializing in architecture, urban planning, landscape architecture, geography, ecology, environmental art, interior design and lighting design. Its purpose is to pool advanced concepts, facilitate the exchange of outstanding design ideas, and continuously enhance the creativity and innovation of designers and artists. Leveraging the strengths of a non-profit international organization, it contributes to the protection of natural and cultural heritage, the improvement of living environments, high-quality urban planning, as well as ecological conservation and the sustainable development of societies and regions.

In accordance with the principles of democracy and independence, GDA aims to promote sustainable development, living environments and habitats. Through seminars and conferences, it strives to strengthen interdisciplinary and cross-cultural connections and exchanges among design professionals and enthusiasts, inspire designers’ passion, and drive the development and innovation of design disciplines. It also participates in public education initiatives to raise awareness of environmental protection and aesthetic appreciation. All these efforts serve the core objective of infusing urban and regional development with a creative and artistic dimension.

President: Pietro Elisei


Dr. Pietro Elisei is an internationally recognized urban planner and researcher with over 25 years of experience in urban and regional development. He is Managing Director of URBASOFIA, a planning and research company based in Bucharest, and has acted as Lead Expert for URBACTand Expert for Urban Innovative Actions (UIA) of the European Commission. Throughout his career, he has advised cities, regions, and national governments mainly in Europe and internationally, focusing on sustainable urban development, regeneration, mobility, cultural heritage as a driver for sustainable development, and climate resilience.


From 2021 to 2024, Dr. Elisei served as President of ISOCARP – the International Society of City and RegionalPlanners, a well-known international association of urban and regional planners. In this role, he curated and chaired major international congresses, including Doha (2021), Brussels (2022), Toronto (2023), and the 60th World Planning Congress in Siena (2024), and promoted cooperation among planners, architects, engineers, and policymakers worldwide. He currently serves as President of the Global Designers Association (GDA), further consolidating his engagement in fostering global dialogue on design, planning, and sustainability.


Academically, Dr. Elisei holds a PhD in Urban Policies and Local Development Design and collaborates as Senior Researcher and Lecturer at the University of Rome Tor Vergata. He is specialized in policy design and strategic planning and has been Guest Professor and Keynote Speaker at leading universities and international forums, including UN-Habitat, UNECE, the World Urban Forum, and in 2024 as Keynote Speaker at the Annual Congress of the Chinese Society of Urban Planners (UPSC). His work combines scientific expertise with practice-oriented innovation, bridging urban theory and applied projects.


Dr. Elisei has published extensively in journals, books, and international conference proceedings on smart cities, cultural heritage, climate change, and regenerative urbanism. Fluent in Italian, English, German, Romanian, and Spanish, he is widely recognized as a facilitator and mediator of complex urban processes and integrated planning, bringing together institutions, stakeholders, and communities to co-design inclusive, resilient, and livable human settlements.
