From October 25 to 26, the 2025 International Forum on World Heritage and Cultural Cities was held at City University of Macao. Co-hosted by GDA, YUANYE AWARDS Organizing Committee, and the School of Innovative Design at CityU, the forum was co-organized by the Macau Institute of Architects.
With the aim of deepening international exchanges between world heritage sites and cultural cities, the event attracted a large number of experts and scholars from home and abroad. The opening ceremony featured a gathering of distinguished guests, making it an unprecedented grand occasion.
Pietro Elisei, President of GDA, delivered a video speech in which he highly praised the significance of this forum and pointed out that the integration of design and cultural heritage is an important path to promoting the sustainable development of cities.

During the forum, master lectures and multiple parallel sessions were held, focusing on in-depth discussions around themes such as “World Heritage and Waterfront Cities”, “Public Art and Cultural Cities”, “Historical Districts and Ancient City Revitalization”, and “Heritage Protection and Cultural Inheritance”. This forum is not only an exchange platform for academia and practice, but also a positive demonstration of Macao’s cultural soft power and international influence as a World Heritage City.
