As one of the events of the 6th Hebei International Urban Planning and Design Competition, the Dingzhou Rural Revitalization Design Workshop takes Xishiyi Village in Qingfengdian Town, Dingzhou City as its base. Led by Professor Monika Kuo, an expert in rural revitalization, it invites outstanding tutor teams from Harbin Institute of Technology, Tianjin University and Hunan University to jointly explore how to boost rural revitalization through design, fully unlock the inherent value of rural areas from diverse perspectives, and rebuild rural cultural awareness and confidence.
Led by Xue Minghui, Vice Dean of the School of Architecture, Harbin Institute of Technology, the team completed in-depth research on Dingzhou’s history, culture, local customs, as well as the rural landscape and industrial planning of Qingfengdian Town. Centering on the theme Three Lifelong Bonds with the Land, the team put forward targeted planning strategies and conceptual design schemes for the future development of Xishiyi Village from four dimensions: urban insight, land cognition, strategic orientation and practical optimization.

Headed by Feng Gang, Vice Dean of the School of Architecture, Tianjin University, the design leverages superior geographical location, convenient transportation and sound ecological conditions. Aiming to stimulate endogenous vitality and realize sustainable economic development of the village, it fully interprets intangible cultural heritage, red culture, academy culture and ecological culture, so as to comprehensively upgrade the village living environment, Tanghe River ecological landscape and featured flower sea and woodland scenery.

Led by Lu Jiansong, Vice Dean of the School of Architecture and Planning, Hunan University, the design proposes to drive the revitalization of Xishiyi Village via the development of Tanghe River Country Park and Tanghe River Ecological Agricultural Park, injecting fresh vitality into rural construction. The three major functional sections are mutually supportive and develop in synergy.
