Gold Prize,Urban Design ,16th YYAP
The project site was once an important symbol of Hefei’s light industry in the last century. Its red-brick factory buildings, dome workshops and abandoned machinery bear witness to the city’s industrial memory. Adopting the design concept of “Urban Engine”, the design team adopts the development path of industrial heritage plus cultural creativity, transforming the site into a compound public cultural space integrating an art settlement, literary courtyards and a future community.
Fully respecting the historical context of the site, the project integrates spatial regeneration, functional replacement and cultural narrative to create an immersive experience across time. It has evolved into a new cultural landmark of Hefei, as well as a new lifestyle venue for citizens and tourists to integrate creativity, social interaction and leisure.
